2023 Fall Conference

The Section NExT–Wisconsin Annual Fall Conference will be held in-person at UW-Platteville Baraboo in their Executive Dining Room from December 2nd through December 3rd. This marks our first return to an in-person conference since the pandemic. We are please to have Holly Attenborough from UW-Platteville as our keynote speaker, title and abstract appear below.

“Engaging Students in a Mathematics Classroom Authentically”

Student engagement is vital to a learning environment.  But engagement doesn’t look the same for every instructor or to every student.  In this session, I will discuss some methods that have worked for me, such as various active learning strategies, storytelling, history infusion, and humor.  The goal is that by the end of the session, each participant will walk away with an engagement strategy that is authentic to them.  

As in the past, our fall conference will offer time slots for members to present their research, teaching methods, or service projects on Saturday and Sunday. See the conference schedule for more details.
