Candidates for Chair-Elect
Holly Attenborough (UW-Platteville)
Dr. Holly Attenborough is the Assistant Provost at UW-Platteville and an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department. Since she started her professorship at UW-Platteville in 2013, Dr. Attenborough has been an active member of both the Wisconsin section and the national MAA. She regularly attends the yearly MAA-WI spring conferences and the business meetings. She previously served on the MAA-WI Exec Committee as a co-director of Section NExT. Dr. Attenborough is in her second term serving on the MAA Committee for Early Career Mathematicians, for which she yearly organizing the PosterFest session at MathFest (for early career faculty and graduate student participation). Dr. Attenborough earned her PhD from Indiana University with research in noncommutative algebra. She has a wide variety of mathematical interests, having taught 17 different courses during her time at UW-Platteville, and is especially enthusiastic about the history of math. Dr. Attenborough has received three teaching awards - 2018 UW-Platteville Early Career Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence, 2020-2021 MAA-WI Section Distinguished Teaching Award and 2021 Alliant Energy Underkofler Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Attenborough was a 2017-2018 Wisconsin Teaching Fellow; her project involved measuring the effects that UW-Platteville’s Mathematical Explorations course has on growth mindset and self-efficacy. She is incredibly grateful for the MAA-WI community and thanks you for considering voting for her to the position of Chair Elect.
